The Newark Rotary Club was founded on May 8, 1961. The membership consists of individuals representing a wide range of professions and businesses located in the Tri-City community. Like all Rotary Clubs, Newarkâs consists of five main areas: Club Service, Community Service, Youth Service, International Service and Vocational Service.
Newark Rotary has a proud tradition of contributing to many local charities and organizations. In the last two years, the Newark Rotary Club has contributed to: Abode, Viola Blythe Community Services Center, Newark Memorial High School, Tri Cities League of Volunteers, Interact Scholarships, Boy Scouts, Life Elder Care, Make a Wish Foundation, YMCA, Camp RYLA, Relay for Life, the Newark Betterment Corporation, Fremont Symphony Orchestra and Stage 1 Theatre just to name a few.
Newark Rotarians also give their time to local organizations and events such as the League of Volunteers Thanksgiving turkey carving, Gift Wrapping at the Viola Blythe Center, Newark Senior Center Events, Newark Days, Salvation Army bell ringing, and the Rotary Chili Cook-off.
